Though his character, Data, loved his pet cat Spot, Brent Spiner hates cats and frequently expressed his dislike of having to work with them on the show. He reportedly objected to the scene where Data tearfully reuintes with his cat in Star Trek: Generations, complaining, “Does he have to find the cat? Can’t he find, like, Geordi or something?”
