Back from Berlin!
It’s strange how a 5 day trip can feel so much longer - we literally walked all over Berlin while we were there. It was pretty awesome learning more about Germany’s torn history, and I have to say that Berlin certainly does have a diverse collection of architecture. It felt very alien to me, though and I’ll admit I’m glad to be back in England, although I’m feeling...

Guh. It’s approaching 11pm. I need to meet my friends at 2am so we can go to our friend’s house to wait for the taxi which will take us to Heathrow. Been trying to sleep since 9 but can’t - looks like I may as well give up and just wait to sleep on the plane, haha.

greenkneehighs replied to your post: Just spent a whole day without electricity or water. BOO for sucky day but YAYYYY that you got to read ‘Salome’! :D The language was so beautiful and haunting! Really quite different to Wilde’s other plays. I feel as if I need to spend some time digesting it as I don’t think I fully appreciated it just from one quick read. Also: on Friday night I...

Just spent a whole day without electricity or...
(My student village had a power cut from 10am to 8pm-ish). And while it sucked, I have to say it was a big eye-opener. I don’t think I realised quite how much I depend on electricity. It’s been such a long day, having to battle the different difficulties. Couldn’t use the toilet in my room, or any taps, or even call my parents who are visiting tomorrow, without having to find a...

foxandfayvel asked: I'm German/vegetarian and there's loads to eat. The German 'wurst' stereotype doesn't really apply, especially not in Berlin. Don't worry.

An afternoon in the life of an architecture...
Currently trying to learn to say “I am a vegetarian” in German for when we go to Berlin at the end of the month. We’re staying in a hostel, so no kitchen, and I’ve heard Germans are big on meat, so I guess I won’t be eating much for 4 days.  Also trying to decode the American scaling system which annoyingly uses inches and feet rather than the metric system British...

A Drinking Song
jeeprobado: de W. B. Yeats Wine comes in at the mouth   And love comes in at the eye;   That’s all we shall know for truth   Before we grow old and die.   I lift the glass to my mouth, I look at you, and I sigh.

One thing I love about weekends?
Finally being able to treat myself to a nice vegetarian cooked breakfast and a pot of loose-leaf tea. Mmmmm.
